There are two options to fix this, quit or get creative.
And since quit isn’t an option let’s stick with creative. For most the hardest part of a fitness routine is getting it started, so keep the momentum going with the following suggestions.

Get off the treadmill or rowing machine and get outside. Play with the kids. Hide and Go Seek, Skipping rope, bicycling or just running around and having fun are all activities that can increase your heart rate and allow you quality time with the kids.

No kids, invite a friend or family member to join you. Someone to talk to and joke around with will do wonders for turning a seemingly never ending routine into a” where did the time go” experience. You’ll also have the added benefit of mutual motivation and inspiration.

Have a pool? Swimming some laps or simply splashing around is always fun. Plus you have the resistance of the water to help achieve your fitness goals. Think about this; when was the last time you were in the water and thought “oh no another workout”, I’ll bet never.

Blast some high energy tunes or whatever gets your mood up. This is one of my favorites. Queuing up your favorite music makes it seem like you have an energy reserve you weren’t aware of. I can here CC Music Factory belting out Everybody Dance Now as I type this.

Get one of those mini trampolines. Jumping up and down and putting your unique twist to it never gets old. It’s one of those simple pleasures that we adults often forget about. And when you’re done with it fold it up and stow it away.

Move your treadmill or rowing machine in front of the tv. Or get a tv to place by your fitness equipment. Getting lost in a good movie or sitcom makes it seem like you’re not even doing any work. Your 30 minute fitness task will buzz right by.

And let’s not forget self-reward. Keeping your eye on a prize is really motivating. That Death By Chocolate sundae with peanut butter topping might just be a few more workouts away. Just don’t overdue it. No need to be counter productive.

Let your lack of enthusiasm about fitness be your sign that a change is needed. These are just a few suggestions. Think outside the box, go a little wild and have fun.
